Pocket Power’s Privacy Policy
At Pocket Power we are committed to respecting and protecting privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains the steps we take to ensure the information we collect is kept secure and confidential, and how we use personal information collected through our phone service or website. Please do read it. We'll review this policy from time to time. If we make changes, we'll post the latest version here. This document was last updated on 1 September 2023.
By using Pocket Power’s Service you will be regarded as having read and accepted this statement. Pocket Power is the data controller in relation to the Services and collection of personal data.
What personal information do we collect?
When you use our Service, we collect, keep and share some personal information and we ask that you agree to that in line with this policy. We will collect and process information that you voluntarily provide us with in order to conduct our Service. This might include personal details so that we can fill in forms online on your behalf, do a price comparison, sign you up to a contract with a supplier of services, or so we can correspond with you by email and phone.
The information you might provide us with includes full name and title, address, date of birth and contact details. Where suppliers request previous address history for credit checks, and bank sort code and account number in order to set up Direct Debits, we will ask you for this information.
For some products, you may need to provide us with certain special category data to allow us to understand what discounts you might be eligible for. This can include information about health (e.g. for a water or energy provider to assess whether you have any special requirements). When you provide this information to us, we will ask for your consent to use your special category data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent we may not be able to proceed with your quote.
How do we use your personal information?
If you have requested to switch suppliers or tariffs we will process your personal data to support this. Our lawful basis for processing your data is ‘performance of a contract’ with you. We are unable to provide our Service if you choose not to provide your data.
Your contact details are collected so that Pocket Power and your new supplier can contact you about your switch. As part of our continued service and commitment to you, we may also contact you near the anniversary of when you switched suppliers through Pocket Power or when you told us a contract was due to run out. This is so that we can run price comparisons for you again, should you wish to switch suppliers, or to apply for any discounts that you may be eligible for or help you set up a savings account.
We will use the information that we hold about you to search for quotes and discounts. You can opt-out of this at any time by emailing info@pocket-power.co.uk. Processing is also carried out for the purpose of ‘legitimate interests’ pursued by us, or our agents and service providers, using the least amount of personal data necessary for the particular task.
Sharing your personal information
We provide your personal data to suppliers whose products and services are likely to lead to savings, in order to help them provide quotes and carry out switches. When you buy products or services from these suppliers, their own privacy policies will apply to how they use your personal data. You can find these privacy policies on their websites. Before completing any transaction or switch, we recommend that you carefully review these policies in order to understand how that product supplier will use your data.
Where requested, we share the outcomes of calls with the relevant housing provider partner, unless you tell us that you would prefer for the outcomes not to be shared. We will not rent, trade or sell your data to others.
By using our Service you are also agreeing to the use of personal information by Pocket Power and regulatory/governing bodies for the purpose of compliance monitoring. If you enter a contest or another promotion, we will use the data so that we can administer the contest, or promotion, and notify any winners. We do not carry out automated decision making. We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyse the use of our Service.
Storing your personal information
We store the information we collect from you on secure servers. We may transfer, store or process your personal information outside of the European Economic Area ("EEA"). The laws in some countries may not provide as much legal protection for your personal information as in the EEA. By submitting your personal information, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing.
Transmission of information over the internet is not completely secure. Unfortunately, no website can guarantee complete security. However, we will do our best to protect your personal information, but we cannot guarantee its security and any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your personal information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access. We keep your personal data for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed, or as required for legal reasons. These periods vary depending on why it was collected, or if we have a continuing legal basis to do so (such as to fulfil a contract, perform a service you requested or for our legitimate interests). We'll then either delete it or anonymise it so it doesn't identify you.
